The Pittsburgh Pirates have some of our all time favorite jerseys. This one is no exception.
It’s the 1973 road Pirates jersey, available for Dave Parker and Willie Stargell. This poly doubleknit jersey includes a round #21 patch on the left sleeve. Worn in the 1973 season, this patch was in honor of Roberto Clemente, who died on December 31, 1972. It was the first time that a major league club honored the memory of a player with a patch. Prior to this a black armband was primarily used.
